COUNSELLING

Why It Matters

Life can be overwhelming for young people. Sometimes, unexpected challenges arise, or the pressures of school and daily life feel too heavy. Having a safe space where they can feel heard and supported is crucial. Our counselling sessions provide that space—a place where young people can speak freely, work towards their goals, and receive guidance from a trained counsellor who understands their unique needs.
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health issue among adolescents. According to the Mental Health Foundation, 89% of young people aged 18-24 report that anxiety interferes with their daily lives. That’s why it’s so important to address these challenges early and with care.

How We Help

Our counsellors are highly trained and experienced in working with young people in schools and other settings. They provide support that not only addresses immediate concerns but also helps young people stay focused on their personal and academic goals.

What Sessions Look Like

Most sessions are conducted remotely, making it convenient for young people to access support. Some counsellors may also offer in-person sessions, depending on availability.

Counselling provides a safe, supportive space for young people to explore emotions, develop resilience, and overcome challenges. Sessions are led by trained professionals experienced in working with children and teens.

Ruby

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), with additional qualifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I specialise in working with children, young people, and adults, offering flexible support through face-to-face, online, or telephone sessions. Whether you’re seeking short-term guidance or long-term support, I provide a compassionate and tailored approach to meet individual needs.

Experience and Approach

With extensive experience supporting young people and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds, I offer a safe, confidential space where clients feel heard and understood. My sessions are designed to nurture self-esteem, build resilience, and support personal growth.

I have worked with a wide range of challenges, including:

  • Low self-worth and procrastination

  • Anxiety, depression, and OCD

  • Trauma and self-harm

  • Family and relationship issues

  • Bereavement and emotional resilience

  • Suicidal ideation and work-related stress

In my current role at a secondary school, I support young people as they navigate their emotions and challenges. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness their growth and progress as they develop the tools to live happier, more fulfilling lives.

I am fluent in Punjabi and Hindi and can offer sessions in these languages, ensuring accessibility for families who may feel more comfortable communicating in their first language.

A Personal Note

Growing up, I often felt there was a lack of focus on mental health for children, which inspired my passion for counselling. I believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to explore their emotions and develop the skills to manage challenges. My goal is to empower them to make sense of their thoughts, understand their feelings, and achieve their full potential.

When I’m not supporting young people, I prioritise self-care through activities like going to the gym and spending time relaxing—recognising the importance of balance for overall wellbeing.

"Education Allies has been a game-changer for my child. Their mentor not only boosted their confidence but helped them re-engage with school and even activities outside the classroom. I’ve never seen them so motivated—thank you!"
